Strawberry Perl Beta 2 is now available.
Jun. 4th, 2009 05:00 amWell, Strawberry Perl (July 2009) Beta 2 is now up and available.
What does this mean?
Two things.
1: The uninstall bug that was in Beta 1 is now fixed.
2: DBD::Pg and DBD::mysql are now included (although the version of DBD::mysql that's included is old enough that help compiling an up-to-date version would be helpful)
The purpose of the beta process for the July 2009 version of Strawberry Perl is to get the bugs out of the .msi installer [also known as the "fourth-generation" installer] and have first-class support of open-source databases. DBD::SQLite has been improved, DBD::ODBC was in April 2009, and now PostgreSQL and MySQL will be supported.
If you want to help, go to http://csjewell.comyr.com/perl/strawberryperlbeta.html to download it and help out the cause. Let me know of any bugs.
